Like most video-editing softwares, DaVinci uses a timeline composed of individual tracks for placing and organising clips. Step 3: Adding Content to Timeline and Cutting ClipsĮach of these clips in your media pool can now be selected and added to your project. Once media has been added to DaVinci’s media pool, it will look something like this: Keeping video content organised in this way will be very helpful as you add more media to your project over time. For example, video files for a section of your film devoted to an outdoor dance section might be called ‘Outdoor’.
If you want to keep your project organised, you can also create subfolders called ‘Bins’ where specific video files might go. This will add your content to your project’s media library. To do this, either go to ‘File’, ‘Import’ and then ‘Media’, or simply open your files in a separate window and then drag them over into the ‘media pool’ are in DaVinci. To begin working with video, we’ll first need to load the video content we want to use into DaVinci. When you open DaVinci Resolve, you’ll automatically find yourself in the ‘Cut’ panel, with your media pool visible to the left-hand-side. These are: Media, Cut, Edit, Fusion, Colour, Fairlight (sound), and Deliver (shown below).
